I spent the entire winter using my sadness from the loss of our baby grrl Lily as an excuse to avoid EVERYTHING. So, obviously I need to make a change. And, with Spring and warmer weather on it’s way, I am giving myself a clean slate to push past the lazy and get things done.
My eating habits suck. And I am pretty sure it all started back in the fall of 2010 when I replaced smoking with candy and snacks. Now, I go through spurts of dieting and not dieting and my weight has skyrocketed. I know I can’t fix that madness in one month, but I can choose healthier options – one meal at a time, one day at a time – and maybe before long I will create a healthy eating habit.
Reduce iPhone/iPad Screen Time
At the end of February I decided to take a break from most social media. I deleted lots of apps from my devices and now I can only access most platforms from my computer. I still catch myself grabbing my phone throughout the day but I hope by the end of March, I am using my devices less and less.
Read 5 books
One benefit from a social media timeout is more time to read. This month I want to read 5 books and read through a Lenten booklet I picked up at church. I am reading through The Salvation volumes of The Vampire Diaries series.
Declutter Spare Bedroom
Our spare bedroom is one of those rooms that ends up full of crap during the winter. If something is in the way or needs to go out to the garage, we temporarily store it in that room until warmer weather arrives. It also houses all the toys/crafts for our nieces/nephew, most which are in serious need of a clean-out.
I am just naturally lazy. I know it. But I need to get moving. I know that too. I spent the entire winter sitting on my butt doing nothing. I’m not only concerned about my weight but my overall health and longevity. My husband and I plan to travel the US living in an RV when we retire and I want to make sure I am well enough to enjoy every minute of it. My goal this month is 20 minutes minimum daily activity. Any kind of activity will work, but I will focus on walking, yoga, or body-weight exercises first.
Write Something Everyday
Even though I don’t like to hold myself to a posting schedule, I do want to get in the habit of writing everyday. This consists of notes, outlines, first/second drafts, and finalizing blog posts. So my goal is to write something – anything – everyday.
Weekly Blog Commenting
Before I became a blogger, I was a blog reader. I still am. But with the blogs that I read, I rarely comment. My goal this month is to comment on 2 blogs weekly that I relate with and to reciprocate when other bloggers comment on my blog.
Find 2 Places To Share My Blog
Let’s be real. A social media break is not ideal for a blogger. But, I am sticking to it. So I am on the lookout for other places to promote my blog. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
Have More Fun Blogging
I always seem to get caught up in what everyone else is doing. I feel like I broke that pattern with my social media break. Now I have no idea what anyone else is doing outside of articles shared on Pinterest or Bloglovin’. I feel that Facebook groups, while offering a place to connect and make friends, also led me to comparison and overwhelm. That realization made me a little sad because I really LOVE Facebook groups. This month, I want to have fun with blogging again by writing whatever I feel like (even if it might not do well on social) and not paying attention to what everyone else is doing.
Take My Own Pictures
I never take my own photos for my blog but I want to give it a try. I think it would be cool to use my own images instead of the same stock photos that everyone else is using. I am super grateful for those stock images BTW and I don’t pretend to have any photography skills. But, this month I will use my own images when possible.
That’s all I got…
