Are you ready to set-up your new blog?! Here is a tutorial to get you started…
I use and recommend SiteGround for hosting. They provide one free domain per hosting account and the domain is free for as long as you host with them – not just for one year like many others.
You will need to pay and extra $12 per year for domain privacy to keep your personal information out of the whois lookup.
I host more than one website so I choose to keep all of my domains registered separately at Namecheap. They sell most domains for under $12.00 which includes whois domain privacy for the first year. Afterwards, domain privacy is only 2.88 per year.
So dollar wise there isn’t much of a difference. If you are looking for an easy-to-set-up convenient option, get both your domain and hosting through SiteGround.
Get Set-Up With SiteGround
The link below is a referral link to SiteGround. If you use it to purchase hosting, I will receive credit towards my own hosting plan. Thank you!
Click here to go to SiteGround.com, Then click on WordPress Services and choose the hosting plan that is best for your needs.
Select “Register a new domain” and type in the domain name and follow the screen prompts to proceed.
On the next screen, you will create an account, enter your payment information, and verify your plan selection and extra services.
You get a free domain with SiteGround, but I recommend the buying domain privacy for and extra $12.00 per year. It will keep your personal information private on the whois lookup.
Here is a whois lookup of my site. As you can see, my name and address are not listed. I don’t live anywhere near Panama 😉
Now, review your purchase and complete the sale. Pay attention to the “Extra Services” Some of the boxes are pre-checked so make sure you really want them before you continue.
When you log into the SiteGround user area for the first time, you will be able to choose to have WordPress installed or to have your site transferred from your current host if you are moving. See the SiteGround Wizard Tutorial.
Also, SiteGround has the most amazing support, so if you are having any issues getting set-up click on the Live Chat and they will assist you.
